We do not compile the ranking list ourselves, because in this time we use a third party data source from the ai-benchmark site. We trust their data and their benchmark methodology, which is very clear. What's interesting about the ai-benchmark is that they perform several tests in multiple scenarios to obtain scores that reflect real world usage.
According to ai-benchmark's official statement, they run tests on 26 benchmark testing sections, all of which are related to AI tasks, such as object recognition, scene detection, semantic segmentation, photo enhancement, text completion, and memory limits.
The final result for each section test is converted into a numbered score, and each smartphone that is tested by ai-benchmark will have a different score. As a result, the ranking list will be dynamic over time.
Understanding the ranking data is simple: if a smartphone has a higher on ai-benchmark score and got a smaller ranking number, it means that the smartphone has better AI performance than others. On the other hand, if a smartphone has a lower on ai-benchmark score and got bigger ranking number, it means that the AI performance may be on an average level only.
To provide the most accurate and up to date data for those who need it, we refresh the ranking data once or twice a month, specifically during the first week of every month. This is to ensure that our ranking data is always relevant and helpful for users looking for references.
